The Uncommon Skill Set Behind Azlan Wardrobe

Lana Bickert is the Owner & Operator of AZLan Wardrobe, bringing decades of experience in costume design, garment construction, wardrobe sourcing, and creative production support. Born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Lana’s educational background includes studies at the world-renowned Notre Dame College in Wilcox, Saskatchewan, along with the University of Calgary, SAIT, and Mount Royal University.

With a lifelong passion for fine arts, design, and performance, Lana has built a uniquely diverse career that blends creativity, technical expertise, and practical industry experience. Her background includes teaching tap, jazz, and ballet, as well as extensive involvement in the film and television industry through background acting, stand-in work, wardrobe consultation, continuity, and production support. Over the years, she has contributed to an impressive list of film and television productions, gaining firsthand experience in the demanding standards and fast-paced environments of professional production work.

Lana began her professional seamstress career designing and manufacturing costumes for dancers, gymnasts, and figure skaters, where precision, durability, and visual impact were essential. She has also spent more than three decades designing and constructing custom Halloween costumes and specialty garments, earning a reputation for exceptional craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail. She is particularly experienced in working with Lycra and other specialty fabrics that require advanced technical skill and precision.

In addition to AZLan Wardrobe, Lana also owned and operated Sew What? and LB Originals, brands recognized for creativity, craftsmanship, and aesthetic excellence. Her expertise extends beyond design and construction into global supply chain management, where she has sourced materials directly from OEM manufacturers throughout Asia to deliver exceptional quality and value to clients.

Today, Lana manages an extensive inventory of carefully curated wardrobe pieces and materials, maintained through highly organized cataloging and warehouse systems designed to support efficient operations and exceed client expectations. Her combination of artistic vision, technical skill, industry knowledge, and sourcing expertise makes her uniquely qualified to assist clients with specialized wardrobe, costume, and production needs.

An Eye for Detail.  A Mind for Production

Lana believes that great wardrobe supports great storytelling.

As Billy Crystal's Fernando observed, "It's not how you feel; it's how you look!" - And, you'll look marvelous!

Lana's eye for aesthetic excellence, combined with a producer's mindset, means she anticipates needs, solves problems, and delivers on time and on budget.  From delicate fabrics to rugged utility wear, she treats every piece with care, ensuring it looks right on camera and holds up under the demands of production.
